Similarly, Jackson 's attempts to broaden her sexual horizons frequently sound forced, whether it's the references to piercing or her recasting of Rod Stewart 's "Tonight's the Night" as a lesbian anthem. Furthermore, the album is simply too long, which means the best moments sink into the murk.

And that's unfortunate, because there are good moments on The Velvet Rope , but at its running time of plus minutes and 22 tracks, it's hard to work up the patience to find them. It's classic Janet, chock full of hardhitting beats to move and groove to (on the dance floor and other places), addictively infectious (I have yet to make it from my car to the house without it in tow), but with a twist/5().

  7. keep strong janet this album is just ok, and im a huge janet jackson fan, so its a little dissapointng that the album wasnt what i expected. but theyre are a few top notch such as the dance pop song "Feedback" the club pumping "Rock With U" and "Luv" I also liked "Curtains" because of the creative lyrics, but unfourtnatley on this album werent written by janet herself. i .

  8. DISCIPLINE is probably the most underrated record in Ms. Jackson's catalog. It's certainly my favorite to have on LP. The many interludes that seem abundant on CD or iTunes go unnoticed and results in a really awesome story-like record, similar to her Velvet Rope record.

A few lines from a couple songs and some suggestive presentation guarantees that a significant amount of the reaction to Discipline, Janet's tenth studio album, will feast upon the singer's lack of judiciousness when it comes to expressing her sexuality. Leave the teasing and explicitness to the teens and younger twenty-somethings -- not the grown women -- right?
