It changed the dynamic of the live set because we suddenly had seven of us onstage, which I think was daft. I think it worked on a few tracks and was a bit redundant on others. As the European dates passed, the situation worsened and things came to a head in Rome. Alex was very talented, he was an incredible sax player, bass player and keyboard player. It was totally different to our previous visit with no arrests or anything, just fun, fun, fun! For Hugh, he was being true to his real character and not putting up an act and to JJ, his friend was changing for the worse, guided by outside influences.

He wanted to start acting and we began to move apart. Although they didn't break through the US, the album reached the Canadian Top Up to this point, no album or song from The Stranglers made it in the US charts. The A-Side of the record was filled with the singles and also the better songs from the record.

This one was the least known one, but it's really good with the majestic keyboards. The lead single of the album. The video clip of the song was very memorable, as you could notice apart from Hugh, the rest of the band were looking very bored. It was a sign that in the further years their relationship would become worse. By the way, this song almost made it in the Australian Top 10, reaching A very good song, but I guess it was a big disappointment for the fans of their early sound.

Both the music and the lyrics, sound very Skin Deep A3. Let Me Down Easy A4. No Mercy A5. North Winds B1. Uptown B2. Punch And Judy B3. Spain B4. Laughing B5. Souls B6.

  4. Until Hugh Cornwell's departure, The Stranglers didn't make a bad album. By the time of 'Aural Sculpture,' however, their confrontational approach had waned considerably. They continue here to attack certain attitudes, but outbursts against specific nations and groups of people are absent/5(87).
